We visited the SOS village, where orphans have the opportunity to grow up in a family environment with a mother, brothers, and sisters, experiencing the full childhood that every child deserves. The village has 16 houses, each home to 7-8 children, with a dedicated mother who lives with and supports them around the clock. Each house is unique, and the children pursue different hobbies and interests, allowing them to develop in various ways. They all attend a nearby school.
We were inspired by the joy and enthusiasm in the children’s eyes, as well as their motivation to learn and engage in sports. We had the honor of participating in an awards ceremony for the top students who excelled in academics and sports. We provided grants of $20 to each student, along with badminton sets, school bags, pens, and notebooks.
The village staff were instrumental in organizing the event. We began by discussing what goods and assistance were most needed, then planned the day together. In addition to the gifts, we purchased boxes of milk, shower gels, and shampoos for each family to replenish their supplies. It’s worth noting the excellent coordination of the village team and their dedication to developing this special place. Local residents also contributed, with some bringing rice and pasta, and others donating chocolates.
This positive experience motivates us to continue our work and inspires us to encourage others to get involved and make a difference. If you’re interested in organizing a visit to this village in Da Nang, you can contact us or reach out directly to the village staff to discuss ideas and ways to help. Please note, if you are a foreigner, you’ll need to obtain permission in advance, which is a simple process managed by the village staff and usually takes up to two weeks. However, if you just want to donate or send goods, there’s no need to wait—you can do that right away!
