Farmers are a dying profession and farmers are old, with average age of 67. Many youths do not foresee a career in farming anymore. If this situation persist we do not have farmers anymore in the next 12 years or so. Food security is compromised and hunger and malnutrition will happen. There is a need to engage the youth to love farming and grow with the land. This needs skills development and showing them that farming is attractive and profitable.
Our response will be to provide tailored-fit, fun-filled training and capacity-building activities for young farmers. The menu of activities will include study-visits, field demonstrations, short lectures and tours to successful farms. We will also provide farming inputs like seeds, fertilizer and small farm tools in order to jump-start farming ventures.
